The animal that creates the shells we all love is rarely acknowledged. When I entered my shell jewelry in the Sanibel Shell Fair in March 2003 I designed this snail pendant as my premiere piece; my way of honoring the soft body of the snail that creates the hard shell. This is my way of artistically uniting the soft and hard components of the snail in a stylized manner – attractive and wearable. Most of my life I gave no recognition to the mantle that created the shells I love so dearly. No wonder then that this is my favorite piece.
